Enrich, entertain and enjoy your summer holiday!
​Experience a fun-filled learning program that will surely imprint an unforgettable experience in your child’s life.
This summer, MIST will host a weekly theme-based summer programme. Each week, children partake in a variety of carefully designed activities around amazing themes. At the end of each week, the children will go on field trips based on the theme of the week that will consolidate their weekly learning activities. Our summer programme includes art and design, music, movement, science, programming, pool time and free play.

Week 1: Trains! Trains! Trains!

Who invented trains? Where did they come from? How did people travel before trains? What kinds of trains exist in our world? How do trains stay on the train track?

Children will research information about trains and their designs. They will colour, paste and complete puzzles related to trains. They will create a simple electric train using recycled materials.

In art and design, children will create their own trains using recycled materials and play with them. 

In science children will explore magnets and how they help trains to work. They will complete cool science experiments each day that will open up their minds to great wonder.

In music, students will explore making musical instruments using recycled materials. 

In computer science, children will explore computer games and practise coding using ​​Scratch and Code.org.

Come join us as we explore the excitement of trains.

Ages 3-5 will visit Shinkansen Museum in Kokubunji. 

Ages 6-11 will visit The Railway Museum in Omiya.

Week 2: Jurassic Dinosaur 

Dinosaurs are one of the most explored topics for children around the world and learning about them never stops!

 

Children will research information about dinosaurs and where they came from. They will explore facts about dinosaurs; how they lived, types of dinosaurs, dinosaur fossils, and how they became extinct.

In science children will learn about fossils, make fossils, create volcanoes and their own meteorites/asteroids. 

In art and design children will create a dinosaur world using recycled materials, playdough and papier mache activities. They will create their own dinosaur t-shirts using stencils and paint.

In music, students will explore songs and movement as they explore sound, pitch and tone.

In computer science, children will explore computer games and practise coding using ​​Scratch and Code.org.

Ages 3-5 will visit Fuchu City Local Forest Museum in Fuchu. 

Ages 6-11 will visit National Museum of Nature and Science, Tokyo in Taito City.

Diving in the Reef

Week 3: Under the Sea

The sea is a massive and curious water body with amazing creatures and plant life that teach us a lot about nature. Through a variety of activities, children will explore different aspects of sea life and what it means for human existence.

 

Children will research and learn about different sea animals and create presentations of different sea life.

In art and design, children will create a sea life diorama using recycled materials, playdough and other objects. 

In science, children will complete a variety of experiments that explore aspects of underwater activities that occur in nature. 

In music, children will learn about songs about the sea while singing and moving to them. 

In computer science, children will explore computer games and practise coding using ​​Scratch and code.org.

Ages 3-5 will visit Inokashira Nature Culture Park Aquatic Life House in Kichijoji. 

Ages 6-11 will visit Shinagawa Aquarium in Shinagawa.

Week 4: Summer Musicale

The Sound of Music is one of the greatest movies of all time, because it is filled with songs, dances and different types of instruments. This week will feature students learning a variety of things and creating music using musical instruments.

 

Children will research different types of musical genres: classical, dance, hip-hop, jazz, J-Pop etc.

In art and design, children will explore making different types of musical instruments using recycled materials and play with them.

In science children will learn how sound is created and experiment with different types of sound. They will explore how we make sounds and music using wine glasses and water. 

In music, children will create a simple and fun musical piece from The Sound of Music using musical instruments, singing and movement. 

In computer science, children will explore computer games and practise coding using ​​Scratch and code.org.

Ages 3-5 and 6-11 will visit Tamarokuto Science Centre in Nishitokyo.

Music Class

All activities will be based on student ages and development.

KG field trips will be on Wednesday each week.

ES field trips will be on Friday each week.

MIST Vision

In an Emergency

In case of an emergency, MIST will contact parents by email and post information on this site.

Safety Protocols
Students must wear masks, do temperature checks, hand sanitise and practise hand washing, daily. No visitors or parents will be allowed on campus.
